This model of the two STS boats, designed by Till Schade, features a construction that impresses both beginners and professionals alike. While the assembly of the compact hulls provides less experienced modelers with a perfect entry into the world of HMV ship modeling, numerous fine details on deck ensure long-lasting building enjoyment at a high level. With the commissioning of the "Schleswig" and the "Holstein" in 2023, the German Navy modernized its fleet with two state-of-the-art Sea-Stow-Tugs (STS) of the new Schleswig-Class. Both units were built at the Fassmer shipyard in Berne and officially handed over to the 1st Corvette Squadron in Rostock-Hohen Düne in May and September 2023. They replace the Lütje-Hörn-Class tugs, which had been in use for decades, and are specifically designed to support K130 corvettes as well as the new frigates. With a length of approximately 20 meters and a bollard pull of 13 tons, they provide the necessary precision for complex maneuvers in tight harbor basins. A technical highlight is the environmentally friendly diesel-electric propulsion system, which complies with current emission standards and enables low-emission operations. Their primary area of operation is the Warnemünde naval base, where they serve as indispensable auxiliary vessels ensuring the safety and mobility of the floating units.
Korvettengeschwader.
