Libochovice Chateau is located in the Ústí nad Labem Region of northern Bohemia and is considered one of the most important Baroque residences in the Czech Republic. Originally built as a Renaissance fortress, it was redesigned in the late 17th century by Italian architect Antonio della Porta. The chateau is also known as the birthplace of Gregor Johann Mendel, the founder of genetics. Today, it is open to the public and admired for its formal gardens and richly decorated interiors.
