The floating drydock Ostrow II (also operated as Dock No. 2 within the Remontowa shipyard complex) was constructed on the island of Ostrów in Gdańsk and commissioned in 2006 for the renowned Polish repair yard Gdańska Stocznia Remontowa. It was specifically built to handle the rising demand for maintenance, classification, and overhaul projects on modern commercial and offshore support vessels operating across the Baltic.
Floating docks of this design function as self-contained maritime lifting facilities: ballast pontoon tanks are flooded to submerge the dock, admitting the vessel, and then pumped dry to raise the hull completely out of the water. Fitted with heavy-duty dockside cranes along the wing walls and dedicated ship-to-shore utility links, Ostrow II provides a stable industrial platform for hull repairs and maintenance.
