This is something special for friends of beautiful architecture. The palace Favorite sits in a 70 hectare park. It is situated not far from the main palace which was built from 1704 to 1733 and counts as one of the biggest and most beautiful baroque palaces in Germany. Thanks to the support of the administration of palace Ludwigsburg we were able to design this model exactly to scale.

This model of the well know palace in Ludwigsburg is definitely one of the more demanding architectural paper models. The amazingly detailed colouring by designer Udo Kallina demonstrates the asthetics of this palace perfectly and you couldn't wish vor more. The windows can be cut out and extra parts are available to be glued behind. There also ledges and sills which can be built three dimensional. But all these parts are alternatively.

Thus this model is not meant for beginners due to the complex design of the roofs, it is still suitable for modelers with a medium level of experience. But on the other hand with all the optional parts even very ambitious modelers will find this kit as very satisfying.

The model highlights:

  • detailed and well designed facades
  • filigree stairway
  • detailed archway
  • optional sunk-in windows

The Favorite Palace was built between 1716 and 1719 for Duke Eberhard Ludwig of Württemberg for hunting and pleasure. The architectural inspiration came from Donato Giuseppe Frisoni.

The Favorite sits in a great deer park of over 70 hectares. The main palace can be seen in the distance; it was built between 1704 and 1733 and is widely regarded as one of the greatest and most beautiful of the German baroque palaces. The Favorite Palace epitomises the architecture of the18th century, with its proportions painted façade. The Duke used the palace as a setting for extravagant entertainment, as well as a hunting lodge.

After the end of the German Monarchy most royal palaces, including the Favorite, came under the care of the state. The last major restoration was in the 1980s.

The palaces in Ludwigsburg have many visitors every year. Children are especially attracted by the fairytale garden which is part of the park surrounding the main palace.
